Priscilla Scott, mother of NSPAC owner Marie McDermet, believed that dance could positively affect one's life. Growing up in an underprivileged home, Priscilla enjoyed the freedom of dance. Her earliest memories included swing dancing with her mother and sisters in their living room. As a mother, she enthusiastically supported her daughter's pursuits of dance and was always NSPAC's #1 cheerleader. Priscilla's passion and determination to dance was apparent when she, despite her long battle with an aggressive cancer, attended her last tap class just 3 weeks before her passing. She was a quiet, determined, and profound inspiration in the classroom.
North Shore Performing Arts Center is proud to honor Priscilla's memory with the Priscilla E. Scott Memorial Scholarship. NSPAC's teachers will each nominate a student from which one will be selected based on their positive attitude and passion and determination in dance. The recipient will be announced at NSPAC's recital and receive a $500 tuition award for the upcoming dance season.
